A quality audit doesn't have to be stressful. With the Strengthened Standards bedding in, here's a practical run-through of what assessors look for, and how to be ready well before they arrive.

Before the audit

  • Know your evidence base. Every outcome should have current, relevant evidence attached.
  • Close obvious gaps. Address any outcomes still sitting at minor or major non-conformance.
  • Prepare your people. Staff should be able to speak to how the Standards show up in everyday practice.

On the day

Assessors want to see that practice matches paperwork. Bring a generated audit package so your evidence is structured and easy to navigate, and be ready to walk through how conformance is tracked across your services.

After the audit

Feed findings straight into your Plan for Continuous Improvement, assign owners, and track them to completion. A good audit isn't an endpoint: it's the start of the next improvement cycle.
